Mitchell Elias Daniels Jr. is an American former academic administrator, businessman, author, and retired politician. A Republican, he served as the 49th governor of Indiana from January 2005 to January 2013. He is currently the interim president of Purdue University after the departure of Mung Chiang from the position. He also formerly served as the 12th president of the university from January 2013 to December 2022.
